With a deep roster and a boatload of assets, the Oklahoma City Thunder are favoured to repeat as champions in 2025-26.
The latest: It was the city's first title and the potential start of a dynasty. The Thunder run it back behind reigning regular season and Finals MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Another Western Conference contender is on the rise now, though, after the Houston Rockets traded for Kevin Durant.

Thunder's odds to repeat
The favourites: Thunder (+200)
- It took more games than expected, but the Thunder got the job done in Game 7, winning their first title since moving to Oklahoma City. With an average age of 25.6 years, OKC became the second-youngest team to win an NBA championship.
- The Thunder's youthfulness rarely showed up in the wrong ways, though. OKC had the best defensive rating in the regular season (106.6) and playoffs (105.7) while boasting the NBA's leading scorer.
Gilgeous-Alexander became the first player since 2000 (Shaquille O'Neal) to win the scoring title, MVP and Finals MVP in one season. The Thunder will be competing for years to come.
Raptors' odds to win NBA Finals
Raptors (+15,000)
- There are certainly some unknowns for Toronto. Brandon Ingram has yet to play a game with the core of RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes and others, and the Raptors own the No. 9 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. This team will be mostly the same, but Ingram and the incoming lottery selection should be key contributors by October.
- It doesn't feel like the addition of Ingram and a touted rookie is enough to consider Toronto a contender, though, and that's reflected in its 150-to-1 odds to win the title next season.
Rockets add KD
Rockets (+800)
- Things got even more complicated at the top out West. The Phoenix Suns traded KD to the Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick and a handful of second-round picks.
- Phoenix was in no man's land, lacking depth, but Houston is a legitimate contender with Durant on the roster. He will join breakout stars Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun, as well as Fred VanVleet, who has won a championship before.
The Rockets finished second in the Western Conference last season (52-30) and are one of five teams with odds shorter than 10-to-1. Durant averaged 26.6 points in 2024-25 on 52.7/43.0/83.9 shooting splits.
Betting notes
- Cleveland is another team directly behind OKC with +800 odds. The Cavaliers dominated the regular season with 64 wins. Their postseason woes continued, however, when they made a second-round exit, losing to the Pacers in five games.
- The Cavaliers get a pass for one more season as Indiana proved to be a legitimate contender, but results in the playoffs are more important than the regular season. Finding some traction in the playoffs is the next step for the Cavs' youthful roster.
- Speaking of the Pacers (+4,000), there might be value there. Indiana went 40-17 in the final 57 games of the regular season after losing 15 of its first 25. The Pacers were one of the best teams in the NBA, and their young core will continue to improve while Pascal Siakam remains in his prime.
- Unfortunately, Indiana will be without Tyrese Haliburton, who exited Game 7 of the NBA Finals with an Achilles injury. He has no timeline for a return, but should be expected to miss the entirety of next season.
- The Nuggets (+1,400) also pushed the Thunder to seven games before falling short. Nikola Jokic is arguably the best player in the world, and that's a good place to start when building toward a championship.
