February is more than half over, and that means March Madness is right around the corner.
The latest: With only a few weeks of regular season action left, the Auburn Tigers have staked as the national championship frontrunners. The Duke Blue Devils are following closely behind, while the Marquette Golden Eagles are a fairly compelling squad with long odds.

Best odds to win March Madness
The favourites: Auburn Tigers (+350)
No. 1 Auburn hasn't been perfect, but it has the best resume in NCAA Division-I entering the latter half of February.
The Tigers (23-2, 11-1 SEC) have the best record in the nation's best conference. And according to KenPom.com, they have the toughest strength of schedule in D-I, too.
Johni Broome will probably cede Naismith College Player of the Year honours to Duke's Cooper Flagg, but he's still a stellar frontman for a title favourite.
Broome is averaging 18.1 points to go with SEC highs in rebounds (10.9) and blocks (2.7).
The Tigers have plenty of support behind him, too, as six regulars average 10-plus points.
Auburn just went into Tuscaloosa, Alabama and downed the No. 2 Crimson Tide in convincing fashion. This team is on a rocket ship to a top seed at the NCAA tournament.
Betting notes
- Winning the turnover battle is primarily a fixation in football, but it makes a difference in basketball, too. And few teams are better at that than Marquette. The Golden Eagles, who are 60-to-1 to win March Madness, average a +7.0 turnover margin per game.
Their shooting hasn't been fantastic this year, but extra chances via turnovers never hurt. Coming off a tourney appearance as a 2-seed last season, Marquette is 12th in the country in minutes continuity (65.7%) and deploys five upperclassmen in its starting lineup.
- Is Texas Tech (+3,500) getting enough love? The Red Raiders are 7-3 in Quad 1 games, with wins over Houston, Arizona and Baylor. They also took Iowa State to overtime and lost by five to Texas A&M. The Red Raiders are among the most experienced teams (2.70 years of D-I experience per player, 32nd in the country) and they shoot 3-pointers well (38.4%, 16th in the country).
