Despite suffering their first loss of the season, the Montreal Alouettes are still atop the CFL's Grey Cup odds leaderboard.
The latest: The Toronto Argonauts saw a small bump in their odds after collecting win No. 1 of the season, but they continue to play the waiting game with their injured QB1. In the West Division, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are the top squad with the Saskatchewan Roughriders lurking closely behind.

The favourites: Alouettes (+275)
Following a surprise run to Grey Cup glory in 2023, Montreal posted a 12-5-1 record last season to finish atop the CFL standings.
What's there to be surprised about now? Nothing.
The Als (3-1) lost comfortably in Week 4, but they were also playing on the road without starting quarterback Davis Alexander. The fourth-year player was seen at practice on July 1, though, which could mean his return is imminent.
The Als defence is still as stout as last year's group, which ranked No. 2 in scoring.
So far this year, Montreal's defence ranks No. 3 in scoring (22.8 PPG) and No. 1 in yards allowed (308.0 YPG).
It's still early, but the Als already have a multi-game lead in the East Division. Assuming Alexander isn't out long term, it makes sense for Montreal to be the championship favourite at this point.
CFL betting notes
- Toronto quarterback and 2023 MOP Chad Kelly won't make his season debut until at least Week 7, the team announced. That means the Argonauts (+650) will live the Nick Arbuckle experience for at least a few more weeks. Arbuckle did lead Toronto to a Grey Cup victory in Kelly's absence last fall, but his 5:6 TD-to-INT ratio so far isn't inspiring much faith. The Argos might be a buy-low candidate later this month.
- Winnipeg (+325) looks like a team that has reached five straight Grey Cups. The Bombers are 3-0 so far, and all three wins came by 13-plus points. A road date with a well-rested Stampeders squad should be a solid test in Week 5.
- The Roughriders (+375) haven't reached the Grey Cup since 2013, but they have made it to the West Division final in three of the past five seasons. Could this be a breakthrough year for Saskatchewan? The Riders, who are on bye after a 4-0 start, lead the CFL in scoring (33.8 PPG) and rush defence (66.5 YPG).
