Best World Cup 2026 Odds
The favourites: Brazil, France and Spain (+600)
- Brazil has disappointed lately. The Seleção bowed out of the last two World Cups in the quarterfinals and faced the same fate in the 2024 Copa America. New manager Carlo Ancelotti will aim to get the most out of a star-studded roster featuring names like Raphinha, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo.
- Spain is trending in the opposite direction — the right direction — after winning the 2024 Euro Cup. The squad is loaded with young talents like Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, Gavi and Pedri. Spain is on a 23-game unbeaten run dating back to 2023.
- Didier Deschamps will step down as manager after his contract expires following the World Cup, but his side is poised for another deep run. Les Bleus won the World Cup in 2018 and were taken down in penalty shots in a classic duel against Argentina in the 2022 final.
Canada's 2026 World Cup odds
Canada (+15,000)
The Canadians unsurprisingly come in with lengthy odds to win the World Cup. They fell down the board from 85-to-1 after an injury to their captain, Alphonso Davies.
Davies tore his ACL playing for Canada against the United States in the Concacaf Nations League third-place match in late March.
It's unclear if Bayern Munich superstar will be at 100% when the tournament begins next summer.
That said, Les Rouges have been playing some inspired soccer under manager Jesse Marsch. They reached the semifinal at Copa America before losing in a dramatic penalty shootout against Uruguay in the third-place match.
The Canadians currently sit 30th in FIFA's rankings, which is their highest spot ever.
There is potential for the squad to get reinforcements by the time June 2026 comes around. Canada coach Jesse Marsch hopes that Canada's recent success will have dual-nationals rethinking about playing for the red and white.
He has already added midfielder Niko Sigur (Croatia) and forwards Daniel Jebbison (England) and Promise David (Nigeria). Marsch said he continues to have discussions with other dual-nationals, which have gone “really well," according to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.
Tournament notes
- England's squad is loaded with talent but has yet to break through. The Three Lions lost in the 2020 and 2024 Euro Cup finals and reached the semis at the World Cup in 2018. Now, Champions League-winner Thomas Tuchel will have a shot at managing the roster.
- Will Lionel Messi play for Argentina in 2026? That's still an unknown, with the legend mulling his future with La Albiceleste lately. But even if he doesn't play, the Argentines will be a competitive bunch. Their defence is world-class and their forward group is loaded with young stars.
